Featured Artist: Future Dr. Nikki Jones

Background: I started off sketching this picture based on art that I’ve seen in Wynwood in Miami, FL. After sketching, I painted it with acrylic paint on a cotton canvas. The designs come from doodling…literally. I purchased this book from Michaels that shows you how to sketch different patterns called “Yoga For Your Brain”. So, after painting the section I sketched the designs using a gold metallic marker. I’ve been told that the painting looks like me or my mom. Maybe I’ll take a picture like this one day to compare. I titled this painting Omorfiá (ομορφιά) which is Greek for beauty.

I submitted this piece to the Literary & Visual Arts magazine for Morehouse School of Medicine and not only was it accepted….they made it the cover of the first issue!
