Blue Skies & Pink Clouds

1–2 minutes

So, I’m getting back in the swing of things…

I chose this picture because it was one of the first pictures I took after I things started to slow down a bit in my life.

After I finished taking STEP 1, I had 5 days of freedom before I started my 3rd year of medical school. I jumped straight into the most challenging clerkships— Surgery then Ob/Gyn then Pediatrics (my specialty of interest).

I was constantly moving, always driving to get to and from. I never took the time to even look up at the sky.

When things finally settled down, I was driving home one day and saw a beautiful sunset with a pastel blue sky and pink clouds. I felt so relaxed and so much at peace. It was much needed and long overdue.

I feel the same way at this point in my life. I have taken some much needed time for myself and I feel so renewed.

It’s nothing wrong with taking a step back to tend to you, recenter, refocus and then continue.

I had a lot going on towards the end of my internal medicine clerkship– continuing my medical training in one of the specialties hit the hardest by the pandemic, maintaining my health and staying safe on the wards, coping with the my own feelings about the killing of black people due to police brutality and random racist people along with my own issues in my personal life. It’s been A LOT going on. BUT, I’m getting back in the swing of things and I’m ready to start blogging once again.
